My Little Bonnet Girls

Out here in Big Sky country you need a little protection on your head to keep the sun off your face and keep your head cool.  When Hazel was little, my MIL made her a little bonnet to protect her head during our hot summers. It covered her head so well and having ties on it made sure it stayed on her head instead of blowing off in the wind like most sun hats usually do. She has since grown out of it and Mary as well, so I decided to search for a larger pattern so they'd both have new bonnets for the summer. I came across the Peekaboo Bonnet sewing pattern from Made by Rae for $10. I normally don't buy patterns because with some good searching you can usually find just about any tutorial online for free. What I liked about Rae's pattern was that the brim of it was super long for extra shade and it comes in so many sizes. It seemed worth it and it was. I whipped up these two for the girls fairly quick. Now their little heads are protected from sunshine and wind. Adam said I just needed to make myself a bonnet to wear around and people would start to think that we started a Hutterite colony out here on the ranch. I'm not smart brave enough to sport a bonnet around, but the girls sure do look cute in theirs.
