On the Edge

Do you remember the challenge I posted a while back to make a pillowcase and crochet the edge of it? Well, here is the update and I'll warn you now that it doesn't have a happy ending. I made a toddler pillow, made the pillowcase, and then started the crocheting, simple right?? I don't think so!

I tried and tried, but I just couldn't get into it. I could get the single crochet (barely) and that was as far as my mind and patience would get me. I have a huge amount of respect for you ladies out there that can crochet. I've learned that it just isn't for me, and that I'll be sticking to my embroidery.

I started off by making toddler sized pillow out of plain muslin.

Stuff it with some "fluff" as much as you like. I didn't put too much in there since its just a little head laying on it.

I followed the tutorial here on how to make the pillowcase with fabrics matching the quilt I made earlier.

Here is the "finished" product. No, no fancy scalloped edges, but a single crochet looks fine the way it it.

Here's the close up. I probably shouldn't have taken this so close because it shows how bad of a job I did. I have put away the crochet hooks indefinitely : )

Awww but it still looks super cute!! Better than I could do! Reminds me, I have been meaning to make a John Deere pillow case for little Jimmy's poor naked pillow lol! Better get on it!

I tried knitting and also crocheting at one time. Didn't work for me either. Crosstitch was my calling. Nanny
