Spring Has Sprung

Thing weather has been warmer, the snow is almost all gone, and plants have started to peek out from their winter hiding places. Spring is finally here!

Since we officially welcomed the spring season this past weekend I figured that it's about time to pull back the shades, open the windows and get some fresh air, and get to cleaning this house of ours. I've brought out the spring/summer curtains, made a new table runner and took down the fall colored garlands that sit on top of my cabinets to lighten things up a bit already.

Here is my list for spring cleaning!

INSIDE

  • Check the batteries in the smoke detectors
  • Clean the ceiling fans
  • Clean out the fridge and freezer and defrost the larger freezer
  • Clean and put away the humidifiers
  • Clean the carpets
  • Put out spring/summer decorations

OUTSIDE

  • Clean the grill
  • Get out pots, soil, and gardening tools
  • Take mulch off of roses and other plants
  • Fertilize the yard
  • Till the garden
  • Plant the garden when the weather warms
  • Plant wildfower seeds

EACH ROOM

  • Wash the walls (the one thing I truly hate!)
  • Move the furniture and vacuum
  • Wash all the bedding
  • Flip the mattress
  • Clean the windows
  • Clean out closets
  • Wipe everything down
  • Get rid of things you don't use

These are some of the basics that I will be doing. Some rooms, like the kitchen, will need some extra cleaning. I plan on taking a couple days for each room so I don't get burnt out so fast.

"It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade."

I love the list. I'm a total list maker too! Your list reminds me of things I need/want to do. Course it probably won't happen until schools out....can I hire you?? :)

Melanie,
I'm glad you like my list. If I didn't have one, nothing would get done around here. I would love to help you clean, but I think by the time I'm done with my muddy and dusty house I'm going to be spent on cleaning for a while and I'll justify not cleaning it as well the following week because it was just deep cleaned :)
