When was the last time that you just stopped what you're doing, and listened to all the sounds around you? It's been a warm sunny day today, so while Hazel was down for her nap I decided to just go sit outside on the porch and enjoy some quiet time for myself while catching a few rays of sunshine.
I heard the birds chirping, Penny chewing away on her latest bone, the trickle of water from the melting snow, my neighbors (in-laws) screen door closing as my brother-in-law went out to check heifers, lambs calling to their mothers, and the breeze making its way through the trees. Life.
I haven't just stopped and enjoyed the life around me in quite a while. It felt so relaxing and refreshing.

Very important to remember to do that. I absolutely love quiet times like that. Except that it can get addicting and then I don't want to do anything else. Just wanna be outside enjoying the simple things. Darn it when life gets in the way of that. ;) Glad you had a good day. :)
Excellent post! We all need to make quite time a priority.
Such a good reminder! I was convicted just this week about my habit of always doing and rarely resting. Even though I run a busy college schedule I need to plan times-of-nothing...simple plain ole moments where I let myself just rest, and like you, just listen. :)

Lady on the Ranch I truly enjoy your blog. A contented woman at home…that is the feeling I get from looking around at your life (as seen through the eyes of the bloggy-world). How refreshing it is to see! :)
Ah...that is a refreshing, uplifting thing to do. Sorry about the screen door slamming over our way!
