Mary Jane's Farm

I like to swap magazines with my mom and MIL as new issues come in the mail, and tonight my MIL passed her latest Mary Jane's Farm magazine for me to read. I LOVE this magazine! It's the one and only magazine that I will read from cover to cover and I even like to read all the ads in between. Amazing huh?
Mary Jane's Farm is an all organic and green living magazine for women whether you live on your own farm/ranch or live in the city with dreams of wide open spaces. Its full of tips for living a more green lifestyle and cooking with organic foods. Now, for me, I'm not trying to live a 100% "green" life but, I don't mind doing a few things here and there to help out and make life a little more simple for my family.
Some of the thing we do are:
  • I plant a garden every year
  • I make some homemade household cleaners
  • I swap magazines so they're getting multiple uses
  • I can or freeze vegetables and fruits every year
  • I "recycle" my old books that I no longer want on a website called Paperback Swap and I can order "new" books on there with the credits I earn.
  • We raise our own chickens and cows, so we know exactly whats in our eggs and beef.
  • We re-use what we can out here on the ranch, such as tin, wood, staples, barbed wire, and fence posts.
What are some of the things you and your family do to help out with the environment?

Wow! You're doing a great job! New to you blog...love it! Like you, I also plant a garden and grow everything without chemicals. I'm also starting up an organic flower farm this year, which I'm beyond excited about! Hmm...well, we recycle, I compost, don't treat our lawn with chemicals, etc. I'm big on organic gardening/yard maintenance. It's amazing how if you give plants the right conditions and soil, they thrive all on their own! I haven't canned yet, but got a pressure canner for Christmas and am excited to try my hand at it this year. Great post! :)

You are doing wonderfully! I am going to have to find that mag, it sounds great. We are trying to be green as much as we can and are getting to be a little more self sufficient, but I tend to fall off the bandwagon every now and then. Hopefully this year I will do better! So far we compost, grow a veggie garden, I try to cook from scratch as much as possible, I make my own laundry detergent & cleaners, I even tried using baking soda to wash my hair last year! But I missed my suds lol. We get eggs from a friend of mine who has chickens and we are in the process of setting up for a couple beef cows. Thanks for sharing your list!

I really love Maryjanes Farm too and I thank YOU, Jaimi, for giving me the subscription. The least I can do is share it with you.

I used my Trader Joe's grocery bag to make a fold-it-note as a thank you note. TJ's has the cutest brown paper bags!
